Coming to life at Tokyo 2020
The prototypes on this page provide a glimpse of the advanced mobility future we're imagining here at Toyota. At Tokyo 2020, you'll see them in action across the city as we help fans and athletes during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
e-Palette is a next-generation battery electric vehicle (BEV) developed specifically for "Mobility as a Service" (MaaS), which applies technologies like electrification and connected and automated driving.
The e-Palette is fully electric but will only drive at a speed of up to 12 miles (per hour) to ensure ultimate safety during the Olympics.
Automated driving with a safety operator on board to monitor performance and take control if required.
The flat, open interior can be outfitted with different equipment to be used as ride-sharing, retail shopping or food delivery.
Responsive and remote-controlled robotics
Designed to mimic the soft touches of human movement, T-HR3 helps expand people’s mobility in their own home or workers’ abilities and safety in the workplace.
Moving everybody efficiently and comfortably
APM (Accessible People Mover) is a mobility vehicle designed expressly for use at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Over 200 APM’s will be in Tokyo, performing a variety of functions and transporting as many people as possible, including visitors, athletes and staff to events and venues.
LQ is our new concept vehicle that builds an emotional bond between car and driver. It features automated-driving capabilities and a powerful, artificial intelligence-powered agent called Yui[M20].
Sora (FCEV Bus)
A convenient and eco-conscious fuel cell-powered bus, refined in form and function to support the mobility of all citizens while protecting the environment from harmful CO2[M20].
Walking Area BEV Family
Designed to help passengers move quickly around a city for that “last mile” of their commute, our BEV Family personal mobility devices will be used by security and medical staff within the Olympic and Paralympic Games venues[M20].
Our Hybrid electric JPN Taxi is a new fleet of taxis designed for a wide range of passengers—from children to the elderly and even those in wheelchairs featuring a stowable wheelchair ramp[M20].
Collaboration is at the heart of our mobility projects. Discover how with Wheel Park and Para-Tech we find, elevate, highlight and accelerate the stories of incredible athletes.
